Get Your Hands on Money Saving Coupons

3 min read

Nowadays there is more then one way to save money. Your mother used to take a few hours out of her day and cut out coupons from the local Sunday paper; and for a lot of us, this tradition continues. Its not that we don’t like sitting at our kitchen table, and after reading what type of mischief Garfield got into that week, start clipping away, its that the time spent doing this activity could be better spent living outside of the kitchen.

Piping Rock Coupon

I have been known, on more then a dozen occasions, to leave a trail of strips of paper as I searched and clipped to save $.35 on something that I really have no need for. It’s a  a curse, but we can’t help ourselves. Wherever there is a sale, that’s where our wallet takes us. With the advent of the internet (thanks to Al Gore for that invention), the coupon clipping business has suffered with the rest of the jobs in North America. There are plentiful of places where you can go, and not only save on things you can pick up at the grocery store, but places of entertainment. Restaurants that offer their customer a $50 certificate to come and try their food and drink for a discount – that’s the type of money saving deals that are hard to come by from the paperboy. A quick Google search brings up literally thousands of different places for you to visit. Which one do you go for?

Type in money saving coupons on any search engine and the results are endless. All of them, offering substantial savings that can be yours if you click on their link. Some of them, are legitimate – I personally have used one or two different sites – and some are after only your email address and zip code so that they can send out more emails to you that your inbox becomes over flooded.

I have distaste for some of these sites, however. I have often stayed on one site and filled out all of their required information, simply to find out that the restaurant that was offering the sale that I want was located about 50 miles away from where I live. First off, the restaurant isn’t that good and subsequently the savings wasn’t much better.

In this day and age of instant gratification, the number one answer when it comes to retrieving information, it seems a bit too mundane to have to go through pages and pages of information simply to get to your local stomping grounds. True, most of these sites, if not all, do have a search function where you can type in your zip code to find deals or coupons that are close to where you are, but I figure that having an entire site that is dedicated to your local area might be a better plan, no?

So, the concept is that you would log on to some ‘.com’ and view these deals that save you money, and won’t lead you on a 50 mile hunt to redeem your savings. I thought it was a good idea and decided to go out and try to find such a site. There are, once again, quite a few of them – and I’m sure that they are all good. I have found one in particular and have used them and I have to say that the results were great. I signed up to receive their deal of the day and although I don’t like every one, the majority of them are pretty good.

Not that spammy or annoying that you might expect, but if you find that they are, you can always unsubscribe. Its all free – which is the best price of all!

Although I stopped making resolutions a while ago, I think that keeping a resolution of trying to save money is a valid one. Here’s hoping that your new year is a safe and prosperous one.
